In today’s edition, we explore why the small wins are so vital to celebrate and how being appreciative of yourself is the starting point of continued sales success. Let’s get to it. Good morning Reader, Christmas is a good time to remind ourselves of the basics. When I was younger, I would have a stocking put out by my bed by my mum. This was just the start of the Christmas presents. Both my sisters and I knew that when we walked downstairs, we would have our own individual piles (and yes, there were piles!) of presents for us, AS WELL as the stocking. After a few years, I started to get complacent. I would see the stocking with lots of small presents and unwrap them really quickly. I would see the small puzzle game, a little book or a chocolate wrapped up and think, ‘yeah, so what, what’s in the next present?’ I wasn’t an ungrateful child; I just felt like bigger presents were waiting for me, and so I didn’t celebrate the smaller stuff. Looking back now, I feel terrible now at how I was, but I doubt I was alone. I am guessing there will be quite a few children (and even adults!) who open presents on Christmas Day next week and forget about the meaning behind them. Very often in sales, we take the same approach. We very often forget about the small presents and wins in the search of the bigger presents and wins. We want the big win and ignore the smaller ones. So I wanted to use today’s email to remind myself and you to celebrate the small wins.
The list could go on and on. So many small wrapped presents in the stocking that we often ignore in search of the big present, which is the deal. I remember once getting some bike stickers in my stocking, and I thought, ‘What the hell are these?’ and moved on to the next present. A while later, I walked downstairs and saw I had been given a new bike, and there were 2 spaces to put stickers on. My mum turned to me and said, ‘You see, the stickers were important’. She was right. The small gifts had made the bigger gift even more important. They were part of a wider package. Winning the big deal is what we all crave, but we have to celebrate and be thankful for the smaller gifts. In sales deals, these are very often forgotten, and yet these are the fuel to help us get to the end place. We think those little components aren’t vital, and yet they play such a big part in the overall picture. So, whilst you grab some well-deserved rest and family time over Christmas, I would love you to write down some of the ‘small sales wins’ you have had recently. Go on, grab a bit of paper and write down 10. Share them with me if you want (I read every email reply) so that a) you can see what you have achieved and b) celebrate them. Maybe even have a glass of something nice and a Mince Pie to really celebrate them 😀 I am not saying spend the income or commission monies yet. Sure, there is still work to do, but when we are selling, we need to celebrate and bank the smaller wins to give us energy and perspective for the bigger prize. All too often we don’t always win the bigger prize, but the smaller wins along the way show us that what we are doing was right and so can be used elsewhere. I said well done to myself this week on
There are more but these are just the 3 that spring to mind. What were yours? I really am intrigued to know! Go and celebrate your small wins. They are vital and show you the progress you are making. I hope that whatever is under the Christmas Tree for you is something that makes you smile and makes you realise how lucky you are. Don’t forget the small gifts, and remember someone somewhere did that for you because you are important to them. They are right, you are! Even to me 😀, and on that note I wanted to say thank you for being part of my community this year. I wish you and your family all the very best for the holiday season, and I hope you are able to relax, enjoy some time with loved ones and celebrate. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas James How would you rate this edition? 🤏🏻 So-So |
